About Oakland Early Learning Center
Oakland Early Learning Center has been part of the Portage community since 1998. Formerly known as the Oakland Child Development Center, our program has grown alongside local families while remaining rooted in relationships, consistency, and care.
Our Philosophy of Early Learning
We believe young children learn best through relationships, play, and exploration. Our approach centers on the whole child — supporting social-emotional growth, curiosity, independence, and confidence through developmentally appropriate experiences guided by caring educators.

Our team brings experience, consistency, and care to their work with children and families. By maintaining small-campus relationships and familiar faces, we foster a sense of belonging that supports children through each stage of their development.
A Place Designed for Children
Our open-concept building design promotes visibility, safety, and connection, while our fenced outdoor play space and wooded surroundings encourage daily movement and exploration. The physical environment at Oakland Early Learning Center is intentionally designed to support learning, comfort, and wellbeing.
