Oakland Early Learning Center in Portage, MI (formerly the Oakland Child Development Center) offers developmentally appropriate childcare, daycare and early learning programs for children from birth through age 12. Our programs are designed to support each stage of growth through nurturing relationships, structured routines, and opportunities for exploration and play. Read below to explore our programs.

Bumblebees – Infant Care (Birth to 6 Months)

Our Bumblebees program provides a calm, nurturing environment for our youngest learners. Infants receive individualized, responsive care that supports secure attachments, early sensory development, and safe exploration during these foundational months.

Frogs – Infant Care (6 to 12 Months)

As infants become more mobile and curious, the Frogs classroom supports early movement, sensory exploration, and communication. Care routines remain individualized while encouraging growing independence in a safe, supportive setting.

Ladybugs – Young Toddlers (12 to 18 Months)

The Ladybugs classroom supports toddlers as they begin to explore their world more independently. Children engage in sensory play, early language development, and social interaction while building confidence through gentle routines and consistent care.

Sunflowers – Toddlers (18 Months to 2½ Years)

In the Sunflowers class, toddlers participate in hands-on play, music, movement, and early learning experiences that encourage communication, problem-solving, and emerging independence in a nurturing environment.

Farm – Older Toddlers (2½ to 3 Years)

The Farm classroom supports growing curiosity and social development through structured routines, cooperative play, and early learning activities. Children build self-regulation skills, language development, and confidence as they prepare for preschool experiences.

Rainforest – Preschool (3 to 4 Years)

Our Rainforest preschool program blends playful discovery with early learning foundations. Children engage in literacy-rich activities, creative expression, numeracy exploration, outdoor play, and social-emotional learning that supports school readiness.

Rainbow – Pre-K Program (4 to 5 Years)

The Rainbow classroom is designed to prepare children for kindergarten through developmentally appropriate learning, structured routines, collaborative activities, and opportunities that foster independence, confidence, and curiosity.

Jungle – School-Age Program (5 to 12 Years)

The Jungle program offers before- and after-school care, summer programming, and school break care for school-age children. Activities include outdoor play, enrichment opportunities, homework support, and meaningful social time with peers.
